Treasures of Thailand
Thailand is a land where vibrant cities dissolve into mist-veiled rainforests. Wander through bustling markets, glide across jade waters framed by ancient limestone giants, and feel each moment unfold like a scene from a dream.
From golden beaches that stretch into the horizon, to cities that buzz with life, colour, and culture - Thailand’s landscapes are a mesmerising blend of nature’s finest and the urban jungle.
In our small group of fellow explorers, we begin in Bangkok, where the rhythm of the city pulses through lantern-lit alleys and vibrant markets. Witness the surreal spectacle of trains weaving through the Mae Khlong Railway Market, and then stand on the legendary River Kwai Bridge, echoing with stories of the past. Afterwards, cool off in the cascading pools of Erawan National Park, where waterfalls tumble through the forest.
Next, wander among ancient temples in Sukhothai, their weathered stone holding stories of centuries passed. In between, drift along tranquil canals aboard a traditional rice barge, and later, lose yourself in the misty rainforest of Khao Sok, where nature sings from the canopy above.
Ideal for the curious traveller, this journey is perfect for those who’ve explored Southeast Asia before and are ready to dive deeper into Thailand’s rich tapestry.

After checking in, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. You might choose to unwind at the hotel’s rooftop sky bar, soaking in panoramic views of the city skyline, or take a dip in the pool to refresh after your journey. For those eager to explore, the streets of Bangkok await—alive with colour, sound, and the irresistible scent of sizzling street food.
The hotel is conveniently located near public transport links, making it easy to navigate the city’s many districts. Alternatively, you can hail a taxi or hop into a tuk tuk for a more spirited ride through the city’s bustling avenues.
Bangkok is a city that pulses with energy. From the symphony of traffic to the chatter of market vendors, every corner offers a new sensory experience. The street food scene is legendary—safe, flavourful, and favoured by locals. A simple stroll can turn into an adventure, with unexpected sights and delightful oddities around every bend. The surrounding area offers a variety of dining options with global cuisines and convenient supermarkets.
Just a five-minute walk away stands the King Power MahaNakhon—the tallest building in Bangkok—where a glass-floored skywalk offers an incredible 360-degree view of the city. Other nearby highlights include the serene Wat Maha Phruettharam temple and the lively Bangrak Bazaar and Bangrak Market, where the spirit of local life is on full display.

Bangkok
Embark on a guided tour of Bangkok, visiting The Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, and Wat Pho - home to the iconic reclining Buddha.

This morning, in our small group, we venture into the heart of Bangkok for a guided tour. Our itinerary includes three of the city’s most revered landmarks: The Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, and Wat Pho - home to the iconic reclining Buddha.
The Grand Palace is a marvel of craftsmanship and culture. As you step through its gates, your gaze will instinctively rise to meet a kaleidoscope of architectural splendour—glistening rooftops, spiralling spires, and statues of mythical creatures that seem to guard the grounds with silent grace. The air is perfumed with incense drifting from temple doorways, and the gentle chime of bells adds a serene soundtrack to your exploration. If fortune favours the moment, you may even hear the soft cadence of a monk’s prayer echoing through the halls.
Built in 1782, the Grand Palace served as the royal residence until 1925 and now hosts ceremonial events. At its heart lies Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which houses Thailand’s most sacred Buddhist sculpture, Phra Kaew Morakot—a figure of deep spiritual significance and exquisite beauty.
Just a short walk away, we arrive at Wat Pho, where the reclining Buddha awaits. Entering the temple, you’ll be struck by the sheer scale of the golden figure—46 metres in length, its serene face gazing skyward. The statue is adorned in gold leaf, and its presence fills the space with quiet majesty. The scent of incense lingers here too, mingling with the murmurs of prayer and the soft shuffle of visitors. Outside, the courtyard is adorned with murals and images of the Buddha, each telling its own story.
Free afternoon
After the tour, you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch in the temple area, soaking in the atmosphere at your own pace. We’ll then transfer back to the hotel, where the afternoon is yours to spend as you wish.

Damnoen Saduak & River Kwai
Head to Kanchanaburi and stop off at fascinating places on route, including the Mae Klong Railway Market and River Kwai Bridge.

Stay at Dheva Mantra Resort
Leaving behind the vibrant energy of Bangkok, we set off towards the more tranquil province of Kanchanaburi, where we’ll be staying for two nights. But before we arrive, we’ll visit some extraordinary places along the way.
Mae Khlong Railway Market
Our first stop is the remarkable Mae Khlong Railway Market—a place where daily life and railway timetables intertwine in the most extraordinary way. Here, local vendors line the train tracks with stalls brimming with fresh produce, handmade crafts, and street snacks. As the train approaches, a horn sounds and, in a well-rehearsed flurry, stallholders swiftly fold back their awnings and pull in their displays. The train glides through, just inches away, before the market resumes as if nothing had happened. We’ll time our visit to witness this fascinating spectacle firsthand.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
Next, in our small group we travel to one of Thailand’s most iconic attractions—the floating market of Damnoen Saduak. Boarding a traditional longtail boat, we’ll cruise through a network of narrow canals flanked by lush coconut groves and vibrant riverside vegetation. Along the way, you may spot water monitors basking on the banks or glimpse the remaining stilted homes, some still standing, others now only memories marked by weathered wooden posts.
As we arrive at the market, the scene bursts into life. Wooden boats glide past, piled high with tropical fruit, sizzling street food, and handmade goods. Vendors cook directly on their boats, filling the air with the aromas of fried bananas, coconut pancakes, grilled seafood, and more. The market also extends onto land, where stalls offer clothing, souvenirs, and locally crafted items. A walk across the footbridge offers a perfect vantage point for photos of this colourful, bustling scene.
After exploring the market, we head further north to Kanchanaburi, but before arriving, we make a stop for an included lunch at a lakeside restaurant.
Burma Railway Museum
Our first stop in Kanchanaburi is the Burma Railway Museum, which offers a powerful and moving account of the Thailand-Burma Railway—also known as the “Death Railway.” Through detailed exhibits, timelines, and original artefacts, the museum tells the story of the railway’s construction during World War II, built under harrowing conditions by Allied prisoners of war and Asian labourers. The displays provide insight into the lives of those involved, including British, Australian, Dutch, American, Burmese, and other nationalities.
Kanchanaburi War Cemetery
Just across the road lies the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, a beautifully maintained and solemn resting place for many who lost their lives during the railway’s construction. The grounds are divided by nationality, with a significant number of British and Dutch graves. It’s a peaceful space for reflection, where the scent of freshly cut grass and the quiet care of the gardeners add to the sense of reverence.
Bridge on the River Kwai
Our final stop of the day is the famous River Kwai Bridge. It is known for the film “The Bridge on the River Kwai” and although the bridge is not the actual bridge in the film— which was filmed in Sri Lanka— the story behind it remains true. You’ll have the chance to walk across the bridge, taking in views of the river and surrounding greenery. If timed just right, you may even witness a train crossing—its horn sounding as it slows to pass, offering a dramatic and memorable moment.
We then make the short journey to our hotel, where we’ll check in and settle in for two nights.

Erawan National Park
Swim in the many pools that sit beneath cascading waterfalls at Erawan National Park, then enjoy a free afternoon.

Today, we leave the town behind and head into the lush, untamed beauty of Erawan National Park, home to one of Thailand’s most celebrated natural wonders—the Erawan Waterfalls. Don't forget your bathing suit!
Upon arrival, the atmosphere shifts. Small local shops and eateries line the entrance, staffed by a mix of Thai and Burmese locals—a reflection of the park’s proximity to the Myanmar border. The air is alive with the sounds of the forest: tropical birds calling from the canopy, monkeys rustling through the trees, and the occasional scurry of lizards across the path. It’s a vivid reminder that you’re stepping into the heart of the wild.
The Erawan Waterfalls cascade through seven distinct tiers, each offering its own unique charm. Though nestled deep within the jungle, the route is made accessible by well-maintained footpaths, allowing visitors of all abilities to enjoy the journey.
Level 1 is easily reached and perfect for a gentle introduction, with a shallow pool ideal for paddling. However, Level 2 is perhaps the most iconic, as it features a turquoise pool where small fish gently nibble at your feet. Nearby food stalls and rest areas make it a popular spot to pause. A dramatic cascade tumbles into a deeper pool at Level 3 —ideal for swimming. Known for its natural rockslide and peaceful surroundings, Level 4 offers a playful yet serene experience.
Levels 5 to 7 require a bit more effort to reach, but the reward is a quieter, more secluded setting with panoramic views of the forest canopy.
You may wish to swim in the pools at Levels 1 to 3 or simply relax and enjoy the scenery. Or you might choose to climb higher for the views, or linger near Level 2, enjoying refreshments from nearby vendors and watching the monkeys as they roam the area.
After a few hours exploring the waterfalls, we’ll return to the park entrance where you’ll have a short period of free time—perfect for grabbing a drink or a bite to eat at one of the cafés before we head back.
Free afternoon
The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy. You might choose to unwind at the hotel, or take a short tuk tuk ride into Kanchanaburi for a bit of independent sightseeing. Whether you’re seeking relaxation or a little more adventure, the pace is yours to set.

Wat Tha Sung (Wat Chantaram)
Visit the Wat Tha Sung Temple Complex and sail on a traditional rice barge with lunch, before arriving in Sukhothai.

This morning, we bid farewell to Kanchanaburi and begin our journey north to Sukhothai. Though the drive is long, the day is rich with experiences that reveal a quieter, more authentic side of Thailand—far from the usual tourist trail.
Our first stop is in Uthai Thani, where we visit one of Thailand’s most revered and visually striking temple complexes: Wat Tha Sung, also known as Wat Chantaram. Spread across a vast area, the complex is so expansive that electric buggies are used to navigate between its distinct structures.
We’ll explore several key buildings, including the Golden Castle, the Vihara of Luang Phor Saksit, and the Standing Buddha Pavilion. But the true highlight is the Crystal Mandapa—a 100-metre-long sanctuary often described as Thailand’s own “hall of mirrors.” Its walls, columns, and ceiling are adorned with mirrored tiles that shimmer with light, creating a surreal and serene atmosphere. At one end lies the preserved body of Luang Por Ruesi Ling Dam, the monk who led the temple’s restoration, while at the other stands a radiant golden Buddha, its reflection dancing across the mirrored surfaces.
Monks walk quietly through the grounds, many engaged in meditation, while visitors pause to pray or simply absorb the tranquillity.
Sakae Krang river cruise
Following our temple visit, we head to the Sakae Krang River for a leisurely cruise aboard a traditional wooden rice barge. This spacious vessel features tables and chairs, with a kitchen and restroom at the rear, offering comfort as we drift along the river.
Lunch is served on board—a selection of traditional Thai dishes presented family-style, allowing guests to sample and share their favourites. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available. As we dine, the barge glides past riverside homes, floating businesses, and small fishing boats. The city sits just beyond the banks, but here, life moves at a gentler pace. It’s a rare glimpse into a way of life that remains largely untouched by tourism. The soft hum of the engine and the gentle movement of the water sets the tone for quiet reflection and appreciation of the surroundings.
Sukhothai
After the cruise, we continue north to Sukhothai, Thailand’s first capital and a place steeped in historical significance. Like the day’s earlier stops, Sukhothai remains relatively undiscovered by international tourists, offering a more intimate and meaningful experience.
Upon arrival, we’ll check in to our hotel and settle in for the night.

Sukhothai Historical Park
Walk in wonder as we explore the temple ruins of Sukhothai Historical Park, then travel to Chiang Mai for a three-night stay.

Stay at Amora Thapae Gate Hotel
This morning, we bid farewell to our hotel and set off toward the crown jewel of Sukhothai—the Sukhothai Historical Park. A place where time seems to pause, and the echoes of ancient Siamese civilisation linger in the air.
Upon arrival, our small group will divide into smaller clusters and be whisked away on golden carts or communal buggies—our trusty chariots for the day. These will carry us across the expansive grounds, allowing us to take in the grandeur of the park without missing a beat.
The park is home to a remarkable collection of ancient temple ruins, each one a silent storyteller of Thailand’s rich heritage. Among them, the ruins of Wat Mahathat stand tallest and proudest. Once a spiritual centre akin to the Grand Palace in Bangkok, its remnants now invite us to imagine its former magnificence. As we walk among towering columns and serene Buddha statues, the atmosphere is hushed and contemplative, offering a rare moment of stillness.
Beyond the main ruins, we wander through tranquil paths bordered by lakes and dotted with wildlife. The setting is peaceful, and as we tread the same paths once walked by Thai royalty, the experience becomes all the more enchanting.
Each temple showcases a unique blend of materials and architectural influences—from Thai elegance to Cambodian intricacy. As we move from one ruin to the next, the diversity in design becomes a visual feast, revealing the craftsmanship of ancient builders.
Despite the number of visitors, the park retains a calm and spacious feel. Cyclists glide past, buggies hum along, and explorers hop on and off to admire statues and ruins at their own pace.
After the guided tour, there will be a short period of free time to explore at your leisure or quiet relaxation within the park’s serene surroundings.
Chiang Mai
With minds full of history and hearts ready for new adventures, we begin our journey north to Chiang Mai, with stops along the way for comfort breaks. As we travel, the landscape transforms. Rice fields stretch endlessly, their appearance shifting with the seasons—planting in May, growth through summer, and harvest in late October or November. The road gently climbs, and distant mountains begin to rise. Trees take on a more alpine character, signalling our ascent and the changing climate. The air grows cooler and crisper as we approach Chiang Mai, offering a refreshing contrast to the southern heat.
Upon arrival, we check into our hotel for the next three nights, conveniently located just across from the old town. The afternoon is at leisure – you may choose to explore the hotel, rest or take a stroll through the historic streets to uncover its charm and character. (B)

Chiang Mai City Tour
Explore the bustling bazars and meander through ancient temples on a city tour of Chiang Mai.

We begin our day by departing the hotel, conveniently located just across the road from the ancient gateway to Chiang Mai’s old town—The Phae Gate. This historic entrance, once part of the fortified walls that embraced the city, now stands as a proud sentinel to centuries of culture and tradition.
Chiang Mai City Tour
Our journey continues aboard traditional samlors the local name of a rickshaw), weaving through the morning bustle to reach a local market. Here, the rhythm of daily life unfolds before us. Locals gather to shop, barter, and exchange stories, surrounded by produce freshly harvested from the fertile farms encircling Chiang Mai.
The market is a vibrant tapestry of colour and scent. Stalls overflow with exotic fruits—some familiar, others delightfully foreign waiting to be tasted. Among them, the infamous durian makes its pungent presence known, earning its reputation as the fruit that “smells like hell, tastes like heaven.” So potent is its aroma that it’s banned from entering buildings unless pre-packaged – so perhaps not the most welcome souvenir to bring home! Alongside it, you’ll find mangosteen, snake fruit, and rambutan, each with its own curious texture and flavour.
Unlike the coastal markets of southern Thailand, where fresh fish is abundant, Chiang Mai’s offerings lean toward dried fish, a practical adaptation to the region’s distance from the sea. The air is a sensory mosaic—sweet, savoury, and smoky—with the scent of sizzling meats like fried chicken and sausages mingling with the earthy tang of dried seafood.
After the market, we venture into the spiritual heart of Chiang Mai, visiting revered temples such as Wat Phra Singh. Nestled within the old town, this temple complex showcases a contrast of eras—ancient wooden structures stand beside newer buildings adorned with whitewashed walls and vibrant, multi-tiered roofs. Within the complex lies one of Chiang Mai’s oldest temples, where guests may receive a traditional blessing from a monk. A small donation of approximately 50 THB is customary, offered in exchange for a sacred bracelet gently tied around the wrist.
After the tour has concluded, we will visit a local restaurant for lunch where you can try local dishes of Chiang Mai such as Kha Soi Kai which is considered a highlight of Northern Thai food.
Free afternoon in Chiang Mai
As the tour concludes, we’ll return to our starting point, with the remainder of the afternoon free to explore Chiang Mai at your own pace. Whether wandering the old town’s winding lanes or relaxing in a shaded courtyard, the city offers a gentle invitation to linger and discover.

Maewang National Park
Enjoy a soft trek in Maewang National Park, visit a hill tribal village and take a gentle boat ride along the river.

Nestled southwest of Chiang Mai, Maewang National Park welcomes you with a gentle embrace of nature’s quiet charm. As you arrive, the air shifts to the earthy scent of forest trails. In our small group, we begin with a soft trekking experience, winding through leafy paths, each step revealing the wild terrain and serene wilderness that make this park a hidden gem.
Soon, the trail leads to a hill tribal village, where we'll have a moment to wander freely, soaking in the rhythm of village life, offering a glimpse into a world that hums with tradition and quiet resilience.
The walk continues, deeper into the forest, until the sound of rushing water beckons you toward a picturesque waterfall. Here, nature puts on a show with cascading streams; it's the perfect spot to pause and take a quiet moment for yourself.
We have a packed lunch included today that can be enjoyed under the canopy, surrounded by the sounds of nature and the flowing water.
The day winds down with a short boat ride along the river. As you glide through the water, the shady scenery of rich forests slips past on both sides, while the current carries you gently forward.
At the finish point, we transfer back to the hotel, with memories of a day well spent.

Chiang Mai to Khao Sok
Catch a flight to Khao Sok, where we stay two nights in the serene Khao Sok National Park, surrounded by its wild beauty.

Stay at The Cliff & River Jungle Resort
This morning or afternoon—depending on the timing of our internal flight—we make our way to Chiang Mai Airport for our journey southward. Our destination is to the lush and untamed beauty of Khao Sok National Park, where we’ll spend the next two nights immersed in nature.
Upon landing, we travel onward to our hotel. The drive from the airport to Khao Sok is nothing short of enchanting. Winding roads snake through hillside terrain, and as we ascend, clouds drift past the windows, giving the surreal impression of floating among them. The air grows cooler, the light softer, and the world below fades into a misty dreamscape.
As we enter the boundaries of the national park, the transformation is immediate. The jungle envelops us. The sounds of crickets and unseen insects fill the air, and monkeys swing freely through roadside trees, indifferent to human presence. It’s a place where nature reigns, and the rhythm of life slows to match the rustle of leaves and the patter of rain.
There’s a profound sense of peace here. Sitting on a porch, one might hear the gentle breeze stirring the canopy, the soft fall of rain, and the chorus of creatures emerging once the skies clear. It’s a symphony of the wild—unpredictable, soothing, and deeply grounding.
In this jungle haven, the weather dances to its own tune. Rain, sunshine, wind, and low-hanging cloud can all appear within the span of an hour. It’s a mesmerising display of nature’s variety, and a reminder of the park’s vibrant, living spirit.
The evening is yours to enjoy at leisure, with the surrounding landscape offering a serene welcome.

Khao Sok National Park
Experience Khao Sok National Park from three unique perspectives: a boat ride on the lake, a cave walk, and a jungle walk.

Today, we embark on a full-day excursion into the heart of Khao Sok National Park, a place where nature reveals its most dramatic and serene expressions. The day unfolds in three distinct chapters: a tranquil boat journey, an intriguing cave walk, and a gentle jungle trek.
After a scenic drive of approximately 1.5 hours—depending on the hotel’s location—we arrive at the park’s entrance and board a traditional long-tail boat, ready to glide across the emerald waters. As the boat picks up speed, the wind brushes past your face and the towering limestone cliffs begin to rise around you, enclosing the lake in a majestic embrace. The engine slows, and the boat begins to drift gently, allowing you to absorb the otherworldly scenery: jagged rock formations piercing the surface, cloaked in greenery, and the distant calls of monkeys echoing through the trees.
We sail into one of the lake’s quietest coves, where the engine is silenced and nature takes centre stage. The only sounds are the soft splash of water against the hull and the whisper of wind against the cliffs. It’s a moment of pure tranquillity, where the scale of the landscape reminds you of your place within it—small, humbled, and deeply connected.
After a photo stop at the bow of the boat, we head to another cove where the boat gently slides onto a muddy bank. Here, we disembark for a cave walk. With a torch to light the way before, we’ll enter the cave, where darkness quickly envelops us. The air is earthy and damp, and the rock surfaces alternate between smooth and jagged.
As we navigate the cave’s twists and turns, our guide pauses to share stories of the creatures that call this place home. Bats flutter overhead, spiders nestle in crevices, and—if luck allows—you may glimpse a snake or lizard lingering in the shadows. For those who prefer to stay above ground, the surrounding grasslands offer a peaceful alternative, filled with wildflowers and butterflies dancing in the sunlight.
Next, we sail to a different cove for a jungle walk. The path is well-trodden and easy to follow, winding through lush vegetation. The soundscape shifts to trickling water from a nearby waterfall, rustling leaves, and the occasional snap of twigs underfoot.
Our guide shares insights into the flora and fauna of the region, pointing out trees unique to Surat Thani and Khao Sok, and describing the wildlife that thrives here—elephants, tapirs, sun bears, deer, wild boar, and macaques. Above, tropical birds flit between branches, adding flashes of colour to the canopy.
After the jungle walk, we return to the boat and sail to a floating restaurant for lunch. The open-sided structure offers panoramic views of the lake and surrounding cliffs, making it a perfect setting to enjoy traditional Thai cuisine while reflecting on the day’s discoveries.
Following lunch, we take a short boat ride back to the starting point and then drive to the hotel. The remainder of the afternoon is free to relax and unwind, surrounded by the soothing sounds and sights of the jungle.

Khao Lak
Leave jungle life behind as we head to Khao Lak, a coastal haven with oceanic views and sea-salt air.

Stay at Outrigger Khao Lak Beach Resort
This morning, we bid farewell to the lush wilderness of Khao Sok National Park and begin our journey toward the coast, heading for the tranquil shores of Khao Lak.
The drive takes no more than 1.5 hours, winding through quiet villages and roadside stalls, where glimpses of local life flicker past the windows. As the road descends from the mountainous terrain, the landscape gradually shifts—dense jungle gives way to open coastal roads, and the scent of salt begins to mingle with the breeze.
Upon arrival in Khao Lak, we check in to the hotel and the remainder of the day is yours to unwind. The hotel opens directly onto its own private stretch of beach, offering effortless access to both the poolside and the shoreline within mere steps.
The beach itself is a sweep of soft, white sand, bordered by a handful of relaxed local bars and restaurants. It’s an ideal setting for a gentle stroll along the uninterrupted coastline, where the rhythm of the waves sets the pace.
Facing west, the beach becomes a front-row seat to the sunset. Whether reclining on a sun lounger, sipping something refreshing at a nearby bar, or simply walking along the shore, the evening light casts a golden glow over the sea and sky—an invitation to pause and savour the moment.

Free Day in Khao Lak
Enjoy your last full day by relaxing at the hotel's beachside paradise or exploring the many things Khao Lak has to offer.

Today is a free day to enjoy the resort at your own pace. Whether you choose to relax by the pool, stroll along the beach, or simply soak in the coastal tranquillity, the day is yours to savour.
For those feeling adventurous, there are a number of local experiences available to book directly through the hotel. You might opt to visit a nearby elephant sanctuary, where you can observe these gentle creatures in a natural setting. A guided village walk offers a glimpse into traditional Thai life, while day tours to nearby islands provide a chance to explore the region’s natural beauty by boat.
If you’re in the mood for something restorative, a Thai massage is a perfect way to unwind. Alternatively, a cooking class offers a hands-on opportunity to learn the secrets of Thai cuisine, using fresh local ingredients and traditional techniques.
