Travel solo, yet never alone

The Riviera holiday begins from your departure point

The Tour Manager will meet you at the airport (or Eurostar station), check in and travel there with you. Where this isn’t possible, a Riviera team member will greet you at the airport, help you check in and introduce you to other members in the group.

Less is more with small group sizes

The maximum group size of our solo tours is just 25 people. This gives a more intimate and personalised experience. For ocean and river cruising, it depends on your ship size. Our yacht cruises having a maximum of just 19 cabins, so just 19 guests!

Expert Tour Manager looking after you throughout

Our Riviera Tour Managers specialise in solo travel. They’ll ensure you feel safe and welcome, making your trip one to remember (you should learn lots from them too)!

Break the ice at the welcome dinner

To get to know your fellow travellers, you’ll enjoy a welcome dinner and drink at the beginning of your holiday. It’s the perfect start to the holiday. Your wonderful Tour Manager will ensure you never dine alone (unless you choose to).

More about our solo tours to South Africa

We know solo travel can seem daunting, but there's no need to worry, we'll take care of everything but packing! Our experienced Riviera Tour Manager will be with you throughout the tour, providing you with the company and support you need to make your trip stress-free. They'll meet you at your departure airport and fly with you or, where that's not possible, another member of our team will be there to welcome you - there'll always be a friendly face. Our solo tours also include welcome drinks, allowing you to connect with your fellow adventurers. And with our expertly crafted solo tours, you can rest assured that you'll see those bucket-list locations and some top-secret local spots.

South Africa's largest city, Johannesburg (or Jo'burg to those in the know) began life as a goldmine. Known as the last great boomtown of the 19th century, it survived through years of division and decay to emerge as a vibrant metropolis that thrums with energy day and night. It's eclectic, with a lively cultural scene showcasing South African art, history and music, yet it still retains that raw, gritty edge.

The capital, Cape Town, is also South Africa's oldest and most culturally diverse. There's a rich array of heritages, including Asian, African, European, Indian and more. Nestled between the iconic Table Mountain and the blue waters of the South Atlantic Ocean, it's one of the best-located capital cities in the world. The city offers world-class dining, a thriving art scene and pristine white sand beaches. Spend time exploring its beautiful waterfront or wandering around the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Outside of the cities, we'll explore the coast of the southern tip, visiting the seaside towns of Hermanus - a popular whale-watching destination -and Mossel Bay, in the heart of the scenic Garden Route. And, of course, no visit to the Rainbow Nation is complete without sampling some of the award-winning wines that are produced in the Winelands.

But one of the highlights for many guests will be a visit to Kruger National Park. Go in search of native wildlife, including the Big Five - African lions, leopards, rhinoceros, elephants, and Cape buffalo, in one of the country's largest game reserves. We'll see animals in their natural habitat in the company of expert local guides who can tell you more about these fascinating species.

All this and more awaits on a solo tour of South Africa, so get ready for an epic adventure.
