MS Lord Byron is one of our smaller, more intimate ships – sailing in France, with a relaxed, familiar feel on board.
With a maximum of around 140 guests, it doesn’t take long before you start recognising faces, finding your favourite seat, and settling into the rhythm of life on the river.
Recently refurbished, the ship’s interior combines classic character with refreshed, comfortable spaces, including a welcoming lounge and bar where conversation flows as easily as the scenery outside. For a quiet moment of relaxation, there’s a small spa and wellness area and, up on the Sun Deck, a mix of seating and a small splash pool make it an easy place to sit back and watch the French countryside glide by.
Food and drink are very much part of the experience. Alongside the main restaurant, La Brasserie offers informal dining, inspired by French cuisine, from lighter dishes to regional flavours – all included, and best enjoyed with a local glass of wine.
A small number of bicycles are available on board – please ask reception for details.
Dining on board
Begin the day’s adventure with a generous breakfast, from warm cooked dishes to fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereals. Lunch is relaxed and flexible, with lighter plates alongside comforting favourites. In the evening, the main restaurant serves a four-course à la carte dinner inspired by the regions you’re travelling through, enjoyed in an atmosphere of easy conversation.
For something more informal, La Brasserie offers French-influenced dishes such as charcuterie and regional flavours – ideal for a simpler, more intimate meal, best paired with a glass of local wine.

Deck Plan
The Sun Deck
The Sun Deck – particularly the forward viewing area – is one of the best places on board to take in the scenery, including historic riverside villages, apple groves, and traditional half-timbered farms. There’s plenty of seating and sun loungers, along with a small splash pool for warmer days, and a putting green making it a relaxed space to spend time as we travel along the river.
When the weather allows, the deck also becomes a sociable spot, grab a drink from the bar and head up to deck to take in the views – a laid-back way to enjoy a glass of wine and get to know your fellow guests.
Please note: The Sun Deck is only accessible by stairs.
The Diamond (Upper) Deck
The Diamond Deck is the social heart of the ship. The panoramic observation lounge and bar is where guests naturally gather, drawn in by the wide river views and easy, welcoming atmosphere. Floor-to-ceiling windows keep the scenery front and centre, whether you’re stopping in for a morning coffee or passing time with fellow travellers. Fancy a breath of fresh air? Head to the outdoor terrace at the front of the ship – a quiet place to enjoy the gentle breeze.
In the evenings, the space often takes on a softer feel, with live music and the option to linger over a drink as the day winds down. Towards the rear of the Diamond Deck, La Brasserie offers a quieter, more informal setting – ideal for relaxed dining or sitting outside on the terrace, taking in the sights and sounds of the river at a slower pace.
The Ruby (Middle) Deck
Located on the Ruby Deck, the main restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a relaxed, welcoming space designed for shared tables and good conversation. The crew delivers friendly, attentive service throughout, and in the evening, a four-course à la carte menu showcases regional influences, served with care and consideration.
The Emerald (Lower) Deck
The Emerald Deck is home to the spa and wellness area. You can reserve the spa for your private use to take a sauna or use the steam room.
Please note: The Emerald Deck is only accessible by stairs.
